Ingredients
- Soaked kollu/ horsegram - 1 cup
- Onion - 1
- Tomato - 1
- Green chilli - 5
- Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
- Cinnamon - 1 inch
- Clove - 4
- Fennel seeds / sombu - 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Ginger- 1 inch
- Garlic - 5 pods
- Coriander leaves - 1 bunch
- Curry leaves - 1 string
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Pink salt - as per required
- Water - 2 cups
- Oil - 3 tsp
Instructions
- In a mixer jar add, cinnamon,clove,fennel, ginger, garlic, green chillies, grated coconut and grind well, along with this paste add 1 tomato and grind to a smooth paste.
- In cooker add 3 tsp of oil, add mustard, let it crack and now add 1 string of curry leaves.
- Now add onions and saute well.
- To this add grounded paste and saute will until the raw smell of paste goes.
- Add turmeric powder and required salt and mix well to this add soaked Kollu/horsegram and saute to the paste well.
- Add 3 cups of water and cover and cook for 3 whistles.
- Serve hot either with chapati or ghee rice.
