This Hidden Heart Chocolate Loaf Cake is made using the hidden design technique, it looks so impressive and clever but is easier to make than you think! There are lots of different ideas out there of what image to hide inside, but this is a good one to start off with if you want to give hidden designs a go for the first time. Plus it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day! As well as it’s pretty apperance, it’s a delicious chocolate cake.

Ingredients
For Red cake ( to cut heart shape)
- Flour - 1/2 cup
- Egg- 1
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Milk - 3 tsp
- Oil - 3 tsp
- Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- Food colour - Red
- Baking powder - 1 tsp
Instructions
- In a bowl crack the egg, then add 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla extract and beat it until it turns creamy. Then add 3 tsp of oil and beat again.
- Now add 1/2 cup of flour with 1 tsp of baking powder, with 3 tsp of milk and mix gently.
- Add red food colour and mix them.
- Pour the batter into parchment lined loaf pan and tap twice.
- Bake them in pre- heated oven for 150 degree for 30min.
- Once baked allow them to cool completely and cut them into your desire shapes using cookie cutter, I used heart shape cutter and cut them.
- Place all your cut hearts into fridge for 1 hr.
- DO NOT DISCARD REMAINING UNUSED LEFTOVER CAKES. We can make cake popsicles' with it.
For Chocolate cake :
- Flour - 3/4 cup
- Coco powder - 1/4
- Egg- 1
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Milk - 1 cup
- Oil - 1/4 tsp
- Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- Baking powder - 1 tsp
- Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
Instructions
- In a bowl crack the egg, then add 1/2 cup of sugar and beat them until foamy. Then add vanilla extract. Mix
- Add 3/4 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of coco powder, baking powder 1 tsp and baking soda 1/2 tsp and mix.
- Add 1/4 cup of oil with 1 cup of milk and gently mix them
- Take parchment linked loaf pan, pour the cake batter half and place the Red colour heart shape cut cakes on it by side by side.
- Pour the remaining chocolate cake batter on top of placed heart cake and tap twice.
- Place the loaf pan in pre-heated oven and bake for 30 - 40 min in 150 degree.
- Once cool down completely cut the cake and you can find the hidden heart or the desire shapes which you have placed inside cake batter.
- Enjoy your valentine with your loved ones by baking this cake!!!
